Bio + CV

My passion for contemporary art began with curating the artwork of high school students for St. Mary’s College’s annual arts festivals in my hometown, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. I enjoy engaging with the public as a guest speaker and in previous roles as a freelance writer and Curatorial Intern for The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, a Curatorial Assistant and Registrar for the Art Gallery of Algoma, and a Gallery Guide volunteer for the Art Gallery of Ontario.

During the Criticism and Curatorial Practice program at OCAD University, I collaborated with artists who found a new perception of themselves and their surroundings by reconnecting to nature. For my undergraduate thesis, I developed an online exhibition, A Breath of Fresh Air (2021), as an adaptation to COVID-19 protocols. This exhibition featured three emerging artists in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, who incorporated natural elements from the land into their art to find healing, connection, and hope during the pandemic.

My upcoming Master of Visual Studies Graduating Exhibition brings together three Toronto-based artists whose contemporary artistic textile practices recover matrilineal histories of displacement and belonging. These artists revitalize ancestral practices to reconnect with their families, genealogies, and homelands. As an emerging curator and researcher, I seek to expand my worldview by learning about cultures, life experiences, and spiritual beliefs different from my own. With a focus on supporting contemporary artists, I aspire to create exhibitions that resonate with diverse audiences and communities.
